When should I / do I have to arrive in Graz?
Depending on whether or not students attend the intensive German course, they will either arrive early or mid/ late September or February.

Between September 9 and September 27, 2013 (preceding the winter term at TU Graz),

Students have to be in Graz in time in order to attend the Orientation Sessions for Exchange Students as participation is compulsory for all exchange students.

How to get to Graz
Graz can be reached by airplane, train, bus and car.
Arrival at Graz Central Railway Station – Graz Hauptbahnhof (http://www.oebb.at)
Quite a few buses as well as trams number 3 and 6 go from the railway station to the city centre. Tickets can be purchased either from the driver or at the newspaper stands. A single ticket
is currently € 2.00.
Arrival at Graz Airport – Flughafen Graz Thalerhof (http://www.flughafen-graz.at)
Graz Airport is situated about 19km south of the city of Graz. Busses number 603 and 630 run
between the city centre (Jakominiplatz) and the airport. From the central railway station, you
can reach the airport by S-Bahn (city train) number 5 (S5). Timetables are listed at:

Arrival at Vienna Airport – Flughafen Wien Schwechat (http://www.viennaairport.com)
The Airport is situated approx. 25km to the east from the city centre.
There are shuttle busses to the railway station
"Bahnhof Wien Meidling" every day from 06:00 to 24:00.
The ride takes approx. 30 minutes, a bus ticket is € 6.
Trains to Graz leave every hour.
Arrival by car
Even though Graz can be reached by car quite easily, students are not advised to take their
own car to Graz as there are parking restrictions in certain areas, and as exchange students
are not entitled to receive a parking permit in Graz.
Pick-Up-Service
The Austrian National Union of Students (Österreichische HochschülerInnenschaft, short: ÖH) picks
up incoming students from the airport or from the train station in Graz, if they wish. Incoming students
who want to use this service are invited to contact the ÖH and let them know when they will arrive
(train-, flight number) in Graz. In order to do so, they have to sign up online:
